II ExpoGNV Perú 2009

24-26 September 2009
Jockey Plaza Convention Center - Lima, Perú

Peru announced the future implementation of measures to speed up the installation of NGV fueling stations

Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines informed that in the country there are 65 fueling stations selling natural gas for vehicles, in Lima and Callao, emphasizing that this number has been significantly increased these last years. Spokesmen from the Ministry assured that NGV represents a good alternative compared with the other fuels, due to economic and ecological reasons, such as the reduction of carbon monoxide emissions by up to 97% and up to 100% in the case of particulate matter emissions, all of this with respect to liquid fuels.

Regarding this, they added that, given these benefits, measures will be established to speed up the installation of more CNG fueling stations, in the context of a policy to change the energetic matrix in order to promote conversions.

These stations are located in different spots of the Peruvian capital and its surroundings, and this is why drivers of vehicles converted to this system will not have to travel long distances or queue up to acquire the fuel, as it usually happened three years ago, when there was only one CNG station operative in Lima.
