Peru: the modernization of buses in Lima is consolidating due to the boost of CNG

Peru: two exclusive refueling stations will supply the public transport system in Lima

The company Peruana de Gas Natural (PGN) will build the north and south facilities for the Metropolitan corridor of the capital city, where 600 CNG-driven buses will operate.

PGN, which signed a contract with the Metropolitan Institute Protransporte of the Municipality of Lima, will supply more than 3 million cubic meters of compressed natural gas a month for the brand new public transport system, which is expected to mobilize about 700,000 people from 2010.Read more>>>

Peru: by the end of 2009 there will be more than 90,000 NGVs

The Peruvian Chamber of Natural Gas Vehicles (PCNGV) revealed encouraging data about the progress of methane’s business in the Andean country. The biggest NGV station of Peru stars up

The ASSA Gasocentros company invested six million dollars in the complex, which begins operations this Thursday. It occupies an area of 6,500 square meters and is able to attend to 4,000 vehicles per day.

A Peruvian transport company announced that will convert all their buses’ fleet to NGV

The company, dedicated to San Felipe Express’s transport, presented their new NGV propulsion buses, which two of them are already travelling around Lima’s streets, covering the Villa El Salvador-Punta Piedra (Lomas del Zapallal) route.

The presence of these buses will represent a measurable saving and a very important profitability for the transport’s sector. The company directory‘s president, Dimas Aliaga, specified that, by this way, the firm will save among 100 and 200 Soles per day, and the number will reach around 3200 soles at the end of the month, the businessman added. Peru announced the future implementation of measures to speed up the installation of NGV fueling stations

Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines informed that in the country there are 65 fueling stations selling natural gas for vehicles, in Lima and Callao, emphasizing that this number has been significantly increased these last years. Spokesmen from the Ministry assured that NGV represents a good alternative compared with the other fuels, due to economic and ecological reasons, such as the reduction of carbon monoxide emissions by up to 97% and up to 100% in the case of particulate matter emissions, all of this with respect to liquid fuels.
